Which Image Should I Use ?

I have started my front cover on Photoshop and used my flatplan to help me but I decided to change my main image of Tiana as in the picture below her face looks to soft and Grime artists do not look soft, they look extremely harsh. This file shows you how I decided that my new image was much more better in comparison to the original image.

Detailed Flatplan

Here is a more detailed flat plan that I designed on InDesign of my front cover so that designing my flatplan would become much more easier.

Interview coming...

I just conducted my interview with my artist over the phone and will be uploading a typed version of the interview in the morning so make sure you look out for it as it was rather interesting.

Here are some screenshots of me using InDesign to create a template for my contents page. When I come to actually creating my contents page which will be at the end of the week it will be much easier.

The Start of My Friendship With InDesign

Today I watched a tutorial on YouTube that showed the basics of Indesign, this was very useful as I will be using InDesign to do my contents page and double page spread.

Mz Bratt Interview 2

This is an interview with the same artist Mz Bratt but this is a much more serious interview, where she talks about abuse, relationships and racism and this interview can still appeal to the same target audience so now I have to make a decision if I am going to go for a more comical interview or a more serious interview.

Mz Bratt Interview

Here is an interview with a female MC called Mz Bratt from my genre of underground - Grime. The interview contains a lot of humour which I feel is very important because you have to engage your target audience and my target audience is teenagers and young adults and humour is something that engages them if it's boring then they are not going to read it. It either has to be funny or very serious and if it's serious the audience want an insight in the artist's life.

Editing

I have been playing around with Photoshop and www.befunky.com and editing some of the images that I took this past week. Here are screenshots of me editing one image of an artist I took pictures of on the Tuesday the 29th. I use sepia to change the colour and saturation of the image and Ia lso used a spot tool to remove flaws that my model had on their face. I also whitened his teeth but from this I learnt that I should not lighten it too much as it can look unnatural.

The Main Image is Everything !

So I have finally come to the conclusion of what music genre I am trying to portray and that is 'Underground'. Underground is basically music that is not mainstream so UK Grime/Rap come under this. My main image is going to be of Tiana A.K.A Baddaboom Tee, she is a female with a shaved hairstyle and a more masculine but bright, vibrant and funky dress sense. I have looked at images of UK artists from the underground genre and with the females there are two categories either that they are very sexualised or they are desexualised and made to look quite masculine. Here are two contrasting images.
